Sabrina Rae Hickel — Helping Women, Helping Couples, Helping Parents
Hello. My name is Sabrina Rae Hickel (hence the emphasis on words beginning with s, r and h). I technically have several titles — licensed professional counselor (LPC), associate seminary dean, writer, wife, mom — but the ones I most identify with are daughter of the Creator, a recovering perfectionist and a wounded healer (Henry Nouwen).
The focus of my counseling is working with women facing depression, anxiety, life transitions, motherhood and sexual brokenness, as well as with marriages affected by fear, broken trust, past wounds and sexual brokenness. My prayer is that my clients find restorative healing and growth by walking not away from brokenness and trouble, but by embracing them and sharing them in relationship so that scars, ruptures and hurts can be transformed into serenity, restoration and healing. I am particularly passionate about seeing spouses and women take steps towards becoming more and more like the people their Creator designed them to be. I believe change most often comes about by using the relationship between counselor and client to: 1) Experience attachment, love and care. 2) Reveal and refine a person’s style of relating to others. 3) Embrace this messy and unpredictable adventure called life as a glorified, authentic, image-bearer who clings more to the truths of faith, hope and love than the lies of betrayal, powerlessness and ambivalence. My husband Doug and I have three children, a garage full of bikes, one crazy dog, and a minivan we swore we’d never own. We have a standing family game night appointment every Friday and a weekly, mid-week lunch appointment for post-game night debriefs and victory strategizing sessions. I believe coffee is essential, love deep chats, relish time outside and am always looking for opportunities to play. |
